Job Purpose
•  To direct Bell Diving operations in accordance with all legislative and company requirements in order to achieve the task as set out in the dive plan. The Bell Diving Supervisor may be required to assist the project team in the preparation of the project operational procedures and to take part in relevant meetings.


Entry Level Specifications
•  IMCA recognised Closed Bell Diver qualification
•  Minimum 3 years and 400 Lockout hours as a Bell Diver
•  IMCA recognised Air Diving Supervisor training qualification
•  Trainee Air Supervisor on 10 offshore commercial air dives
•  IMCA Air Diver Supervisor qualification
•  Minimum 360 hours logged as Assistant LST
•  Minimum 350 hours as Trainee Supervisor on bell control panel
•  IMCA recognised Bell Diving Supervisor training qualification
•  IMCA Bell Diving Supervisor qualification
•  Current offshore medical and survival certification
•  Preferably to have held Diver Medics qualification
•  Letter of appointment

Reporting Lines
•  Reports to: Offshore Project Manager and/or Senior Diving Supervisor

Accountability
•  For the maintenance and availability of current personal certification at the offshore location
•  For ensuring the bell dives being conducted under his control are conducted in a safe and effective manner
•  For ensuring the health and safety of the project team under his control
•  For ensuring operations are undertaken in accordance with all relevant legislative and organisational requirements

Responsibilities
•  For ensuring that all personnel under his control are aware of relevant procedures and any associated hazard before work commences
•  For ensuring the Offshore Project Manager/Senior Dive Supervisor is aware of any shortfall in the training or experience of the dive team under his control
•  For ensuring that all personnel under his control use appropriate PPE
•  For liasing with the planner to produce a dive plan prior to each dive undertaken
•  For establishing and maintaining a sound up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative and organisational requirements

Personal Qualities
Supervise Operations
•  Implement procedures for the execution of the project work, in conjunction with the project team
•  Ensure adequate equipment is available to perform the work
•  Advise Offshore Project Manager of progress of project work and of any foreseen problems
•  Advise Offshore Project Manager of any planned deviation from project procedures an correctly administer the company's management of change procedures
•  Advise Offshore Project Manager of any foreseen Client problems
•  Liase with Offshore Project Manager, Offshore Operations Planner, Air Diving Supervisor and ROV Pilot to produce a dive plan
•  Liase with the Client, Bridge Officers, Air Diving Supervisor and ROV Pilot to ensure the Dive Support Vessel is correctly positioned to carry out dive
•  Work with project team to ensure operations are performed according to legislative and company requirements
•  Maintain a sound-up-to-date knowledge and understanding of organisation and legislative requirements
•  Ensure shift handover is completed, advising oncoming Air Diving Supervisor of all relevant safety and operational information

Equipment
•  Maintain a sound up-to-date knowledge of the plant and equipment used in the performance of the operation to include:
•  Bell launch and recovery system
•  Bell control panel
•  Diving bell
•  Gas reclaim system
•  Life support equipment
•  Hyperbaric rescue lifeboat
•  HRL launch and recovery system
•  Ensure the Dive System Technician is advised of any equipment faults or failures
•  Ensure all personal protective equipment and clothing used in dive operations are fit for use
•  Advise the Offshore Project Manager of any equipment requirements
•  Supervise the inspection of project equipment arriving at the worksite to ensure they are fit for use

Diving Operations
•  Maintain a sound knowledge and understanding of the saturation diving tables to be utilised during the performance of the operation
•  Ensure correct saturation storage depth is used through co-ordinating with the Offshore Project Manager and Life Support Supervisor
•  Supervise the deployment of project tools and equipment in a safe and effective manner through co-ordinating with the Rigger Foreman
•  Ensure a sound up-to-date knowledge of the company's procedures to ensure safe management of the diver's excursion umbilical
•  Ensure divers under his control are fit to dive
•  Ensure pre-dive checks are completed prior to diver deployment

Marine Activities
•  Maintain a basic knowledge and understanding of DP systems
•  Maintain a knowledge of diving in anchor patterns

•  Ensure hazardous acts and conditions reported are investigated
•  Ensure all incidents, accidents and non-conformities are reported

•  Ensure housekeeping standards in the project dive area are acceptable
•  Ensure all personnel under his control use relevant personal protective equipment and clothing while conducting operations
•  Maintain a sound up-to-date knowledge and understanding of organisational and legislative requirements
•  Ensure a valid Permit to Work is in force during diving operations
•  Ensure environmental conditions are suitable for diving and deck activities

Emergency Situations
Supervising Safety
•  Maintain a sound up-to-date knowledge and understanding of the company's emergency and contingency procedures to include:
•  Diver emergency procedures
•  Bell emergency recovery procedures
•  Lost bell procedures
•  HRL launch procedures
•  Conduct emergency drills to ensure the project team under his control have an understanding of their roles in emergency situations
•  Supervise the treatment of divers with decompression related sickness
